Are you seeking a thrilling and unique way to connect with family, friends, and colleagues?
Do you want to help the young people in your life improve social-emotional skills like active listening and appreciating the perspectives of others? Are you curious about what might happen if a magical sword was handed to your grandmother, or your 10-year-old, or your boss? Jason leads epic gaming adventures for kids, families, and professionals. |
A role-playing game (RPG) is an interactive storytelling experience in which players collaborate to solve puzzles, find treasure, and defeat monsters in a fictional setting.
The RPG format is a powerful vehicle for promoting creativity, teamwork, and social connection. Nothing unites a group of students, a family, or a professional team like literally slaying a (fictional) dragon! Jason’s style as a game-moderator is to use RPG systems that are streamlined and beginner-friendly, while still offering enough depth to engage experienced players. The goal is to welcome new players into the fun of adventuring, without an intimidating learning curve. Adventurers of all ages can experience the joy of exploration and discovery by playing make-believe |

Adventure Resources for Teachers

Jason is the author of the Quests of Epic Proportions, which he designed for classroom use. Each Quest is a cooperative game in which student teams undertake a fantasy adventure with a "choose your own adventure" format. As the challenges mount and supplies grow scarce, teams need good teamwork and communication to be successful.
Built with social-emotional learning (SEL) in mind, the fictional challenges of the game are engaging and fun, while presenting "real enough" situations that deep SEL conversations can arise. Participants in a Quest will encounter opportunities to work on :

The funny thing is that [my students] have not even caught on to this being SEL. They are stating sentences like, "Our group is using active listening, and it works." "I feel like our group overpowers people's opinions. How can we change that?" |
