Beetle races in algebra! We let loose some mealworm beetles and traced their path (rocked out in 5-second intervals). Fun! Next time we will analyze the data and make some distance-time graphs.
Friday's community meeting will be Battle of the Air Bands, in which each advisory lip-syncs and air-performs a song. We chose "The Fox" by Ylvis (aka "What Does the Fox Say?"). Here we have the cast list. Yes, I am playing the "old man". Thanks, gang.
In Collaborative Mathematics, we explored the Collatz Conjecture, and drew graphs of the relationships we found (so far).
Got my first piece of fan art today, from a prealgebra student. Here we see the elf Xabier, "The Whiz of the Woods", one member of the Fellowship of the Gilded Toroid. Thanks, Nikhil!
Seventh graders share their research at the Middle School Exhibition of Learning. Before and during the event!
Did I mention that not all of the bean bags survived the first meeting of the juggling Flex on Friday?
On the days before Thanksgiving break, prealgebra and algebra students design tile patterns and analyze the patterns in the numbers of the different shapes as the pattern continues. Algebra studets will connect these patterns to the concept of slope and rate of change.
