Collaborative Mathematics

Collaborative Mathematics is a website I operated between 2012 and 2015.

The main goal of Collaborative Mathematics was to use video as a means of connecting a worldwide community of mathematical problem solvers. The site offers an assortment of puzzle videos and a library of user-submitted solutions.

Design Philosophy

I believe that helping young people develop a productive attitude toward challenging problems may be the most important educational objective in the mathematics classroom.

The intended audience for Collaborative Mathematics was middle and high school mathematics teachers and students, and the primary goal of the project was to help cultivate in young people an attitude of creativity, resourcefulness, self-confidence, and perseverance in the face of challenging problems.

Testimonials

I teach a higher level 5th grade math group and the challenges have been some of the best discussion this year! The challenges have forced them to think about their thinking and explain it to others.
Collaborative Mathematics got a write up in the 06 August 2013 edition of Math Munch, a weekly digest of the mathematical internet.
