The Arithmetiquities: Side Quests
Jason's mathematical story, The Arithmetiquities, tells the tale of the Fellowship of the Twilight Tower, a quirky team of heroes on an epic adventure. In this mathematics workshop, participants will explore the Side Quests, a new collection of mathematical stories about the Fellowship and their exploits.
Each week, we will do an in-depth study of a side quest puzzle. Participants will tackle a challenging problem, discuss their strategies and solutions, and explore extensions to the original puzzle. Workshop ScheduleThis workshop meets for eight 60-minute remote (Zoom) sessions.

About Mathematics WorkshopsMathematics workshops focus on the joy of exploration and discovery. Sessions will emphasize depth of understanding, rather than breadth of coverage. Though we may encounter a small number of problems each session, our goals will be to explore and understand those problems fully.
No specific mathematical experience is required. Workshop content will generally target middle- and high-school mathematics concepts, though the puzzles and problems we explore can scale up or down to meet a variety of challenge levels.
