I lead interactive storytelling and roleplaying experiences in which participants must work together to undertake an epic quest to solve puzzles, find treasure, defeat monsters, and save the day.

Akin to "escape the room" games, my adventure sessions provide excellent opportunities for creative problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and imaginative play.

No prior experience with roleplaying games is required; these adventures often use my original tabletop storytelling game, Chronicles of the Everflame Collective, which was designed for younger players and beginners of all ages.

Adventurous Mathematics

engaging learning experiences for individuals and small groups​

I work with young people and adults to support mathematical flourishing and celebrate the joy of mathematical exploration and discovery.

Over my years as a professional educator, I have curated a collection of rich mathematical tasks which invite creativity, curiosity, and a sense of play while also offering opportunities for deep and rigorous mathematical thinking. My intent is always to bring a welcoming and exploratory instructional style, allowing every participant to feel successful, regardless of their confidence level with mathematics.

About Jason

Equal parts storyteller, teacher, and mathematician, Jason Ermer (he/him) was once lovingly voted “most likely to lead children to their fictional doom.”

He has for years been smashing together his passions for computer programming, mathematics, and fantasy adventure in countless permutations. His greatest joy is in crafting interactive problem-solving experiences to challenge, entertain, and delight his audience.

Jason has two decades of experience as a professional educator, having worked both in the USA and Norway as a secondary mathematics teacher, a leader of professional development for in-service mathematics and science teachers, and a teacher-educator at the University of Texas, where he won a Teaching Excellence Award for his work as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the College of Natural Sciences.
