​​Over my years as a professional educator, I have curated a collection of rich mathematical tasks which invite creativity, curiosity, and a sense of play while also offering opportunities for deep and rigorous mathematical thinking.

They have a fun little twist to them and more detail. It’s not like, “Sally had 3 apples,” but instead there are chapters that all come together and are actually fun for kids.

Learning experiences for young people, families, and professionals

​I work with young people and adults to support mathematical flourishing. My intent is always to bring a welcoming and exploratory instructional style, allowing every participant to feel successful, regardless of their confidence level with mathematics.

I offer individual mathematics coaching and small-group classes for young people and adults.

This work supports reluctant learners who wish to develop confidence and fluency, as well as enthusiastic learners who want to deepen their thinking about complex problems or explore a topic of personal interest.

About Jason Ermer (he/him)

My work is about celebrating the joy of exploration and discovery. I delight in crafting interactive problem-solving experiences to challenge, entertain, and delight an audience.

I have more than twenty years of experience as a professional educator, having worked both in the USA and Norway as a secondary mathematics teacher, a leader of professional development for in-service mathematics and science teachers, and a teacher-educator at the University of Texas, where I won a Teaching Excellence Award for my work as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the College of Natural Sciences.

Through my special blend of mathematics and storytelling -- "mythematics" -- my goal is to engage participants in rich tasks which invite creativity, curiosity, and a sense of play while also offering opportunities for deep and rigorous mathematical thinking.
